  • Duration One year
  • Segment Civil engineering
  • Oplossing Hydrodemolition, (Manual) concrete repairs, Injections

After almost 100 years, the Noordersluis in IJmuiden is in need of replacement. A new, larger sea lock should increase the accessibility of the port of Amsterdam for ever-growing ocean vessels. The OpenIJ cooperation is responsible for the design, construction, funding and 26 years of maintenance of the new sea lock. VTG supplies concrete repair staff and supports Aqua Demolition Services B.V. (ADS) with various hydro demolition activities for the duration of the entire construction process.

SOLUTION

For a project on this enormous scale, concrete repairs are essential. Manual concrete repairs and applying sprayed concrete must be repeated regularly, and injection operations for closing water leaks are likewise needed on a regular basis. VTG made a useful contribution to solving various concrete-related problems in this project.
