Hydrodemolition

Concrete removal with high-pressure water, without damaging the underlying reinforcement.

What is hydrodemolition?

Hydrodemolition is the removal of concrete using water at very high pressure (up to approximately 2,500 bar). The damaged concrete is selectively blasted away without harming the underlying reinforcement or causing micro-cracks in the remaining concrete. The result is a rough, perfectly bonding surface — ideal as a substrate for new concrete or shotcrete.

VTG Beton uses hydrodemolition for industrial renovations, infrastructure and complex concrete repairs. The method is certified and carried out in accordance with BRL 3201:2017.

The benefits

Efficiently applicable, from small repairs to large-scale projects.

Removes damaged concrete with centimetre precision without damaging the underlying reinforcement

No shocks or vibrations, so no micro-cracks in the surrounding structure as with traditional techniques

In collaboration with Aqua Demolition Services, guaranteed safety, innovation and capacity under high time pressure

You are left with a clean, load-bearing substrate so the concrete can easily be repaired

When to choose hydrodemolition?

Hydrodemolition is the method of choice when preserving the reinforcement is crucial, for example when renovating bridges, parking decks, basement decks and industrial floors. It is also the preferred method in environments where vibration and dust must be kept to a minimum — such as operational plants and critical infrastructure. VTG Beton has high-pressure units of up to 2,500 bar and experienced operators to carry out every project safely and efficiently.
